Arts Inc Norah Head Lighthouse Retreat July 2015

Retreating again, In my favorite hometown location,Lucky Me.
With one incredibly talented muse.
Paula is a local girl,an art teacher, who lives abroad with her family and
returns twice yearly to host art retreats at this beautiful location,
on the New South Wales ,Central Coast .
For this retreat, I put on my cooks apron instead of my art apron and assisted the artisans with creative culinary fare. Of course in between courses I was playing in my art journal (evidence) and snapping the odd instagram pic /video -
but seriously, you really should check this Link out for a taste of Paulas work .
She is incredibly inspiring and these retreats are class inclusive,
you bound away feeling recharged creatively,
having learnt new techniques and
with piece of your own work(a sea inspired handmade art journal)
already with direction and flow,to continue working on.

The next ArtsInc. retreats are in December 2015.

Instagram inspiration

I love Instagram for the artistic inspiration it provides and
I adore all the incredible artists of the world who share their passion and love
through the wonderful medium of Photography.
I am not a big one for standard challenges,
so its rad when you are floating through your feed and
come across something that really inspires you
to get to your art space and create something asap.
This piece below is inspired by the amazing Irina Teeshoom and
in particular, this gorgeous piece of layered arty goodness here .

Another Inspiring Instagram Artist is the Amazing Tracy Scott,
  here is her Instagram page,
 her Facebook page here .
I absolutely love the colourful bold fun naive creative approach that she uses.
She is pure inspiration for me,and creating a page scraplifting her "creative style" was so much fun.
I will definitely be playing with her technique again.
who is inspiring you atm ??

Love love this new WOW stencil . Here .Seriously go check it .... Oh the possibilities.
and combing it with this Besties Selfie Chippy . Here ,I am simply adoring the end results.

Stathmore watercolour 12x12 -300gm paper. Mmmmmmmmm lush .
plus some Tim Holtz and Dylusions inks ,a few random lines with my posca ,
a stamp here and there, and it really didn't take long to throw this one together.

Scrapping a few photos from my recent cruise to New Caledonia and the Isle of Pines..
Using Words or Whatever  stencils .
This first was for a recent retreat challenge.(best ever  challenges Jen Hall)
I've scrapped this sweet shot of the ship(Radiance of the Seas)
from the tender travelling back from a wonderful day on the Isle Of Pines
Big thanks to Belinda for sharing a few photos from Amadee Island.
Truly a beautiful place, not only for the idyllic picturesque setting ,
but for the Lighthouse (the tallest in the southern hemisphere)
*you know family lighthouse history and all that stuff,
and for the memories I created there 30 years ago, during a french school excursion .

South Pacific Sunset

Howdy Bloggers,
How's your day . I have just started back to work
after 3 weeks off to get arty and see a speck of the South Pacific.
So,of course,I have a few layouts to share over the next few days ... or weeks. :)
Today I am sharing these 2 pieces .
----------------------------------
I love these Words Or Whatever -WOW Messy Frames.
they come in a 3 pack in staggered sizes. Rectangle, Circles and Squares.
Perfect for my messy work .
I'm thinking I might have to get me some circle ones as well.
Not Your Everyday Destination, is based upon my recent trip to Noumea.
Cruising the South Pacific with the wonderful Rose from Scrap with Friends
and her talented crew of creatives .
Sunset over New Caledonia
The layout below features 3 photos from the Melbournes Hosier Lane .
Oh What a joyful place of colourful creative energy it is.
For this layout I have used my fav new WOW stencil(im in overkill with this stencil atm),
textured the cardstock, splashed a little ink around,
then embossed a few scollops in different colours.
I've used the nesting shapes from the WOW messy frames,
to highlight the central photo, and a WOW world wood veneer. May as well get value for $.
I also carved a little stamp for fun and to give the piece a little street cred.

Gauche Goodness X 3

Last Months Gauche Moodboard was calling my name..
Keen to get on top of it because of the crazy april program,
I created this first piece in March for the Gauche Alchemy Blog and
forgot to schedule a GA blog post for it while I was away .Whoops .
So I guess its time to share.

I have used some funky new release WordsOrWhatever WOW Industrial board chipboard.

If you check out the mood board you will see the rays and bright colours instantly,
with this as my prompt I created 3 similar backgrounds with Textured Paste and  Dylusions.
Here is what I did with the other 2 Gauche Inspired backgrounds.
This one I created at a recent retreat. The prompt was ,one had to used hand cut bookpaper lettering on a layout /canvas or art journal piece.
I actually created the words for a canvas that i was making ,
but they were too large, so they found a home with these photos and this background.
I have to say I am sorta kinda smitten with it,
actually im a bit smitten with him. ♥
Photos are from about 20 weeks ago, from when I got my new phone(not new now).

If you are like me and have teenages, getting a photo of them is rare.
I was so happy to be cleaning my art table and come across this photo of Asti,
which she had printed on my little Fuji Instax.
I particularly loooooooove that Manor House paper frame...

Her Beautiful Life

I was very lucky to recently spend some time retreating with Charm
she such a wonderful creative ,
and before I left she shared a couple of her photos with me..:) :)
I have a real need to share my craft and scrap pages for others and I was stoked how beautifully this photo worked with this background. I never scrap a background for a particular photo. In fact I just create layout backgrounds and then throw a few photos onto the pages and see what works.
Im loving the end result .

Scrap The Girls - fun with house paint

Scrap The Girls March
There is a sketch challenge over at STG this month, make sure you check it out .
I have pulled out a photo that must be 8 years plus old,the girls with their lifelong friend Taylah.
I have some tester house paint pots that I love to use because the paint is so fluid, it drips and flows like no other medium .So after creating the background with a stencil, mists and a little gesso,
I have placed the photo down and covered the image with a piece of scrap paper, then using the back end of a small paint brush one drips the paint in a circular movement to create the circle.
Drying in between colours is important for me ,because I want black and white not grey.
Have you tried using house paint in your layouts? or any other non tradional items.?
