Retreat pieces

 For over 10 years I've been lucky enough to attend retreats and meet so many amazing artists,share their creative space,enjoy their stories and connect to special people.Now forever, in my experience, that have been strictly a female dominated domain. 

Until Mojo!

That's when I had the pleasure of meeting Jason.

 Yay,a scrapper,who is male :) and who came to Mojo, to get arty and have fun and ,

 well, I'm sure was enlightened along the way .....

I created this piece of scrappy goodness above, using a photo taken for this layout .

 and will be given framed as a winning prize.

Camp Mojo 2015

I am sitting here waiting for the uber talented Jo Kinder,
 to pick me up, for the road trip down south to Picton, to attend the yearly Delights Retreat.
And I realized,as I sit here,that I haven't even blogged about Camp Mojo
or the Tamworth Retreat I attended last month , whoops -bad blogger !!
So first things first ,lets check out some pix from Camp Mojo 

another crazy year of arty fun in the Hunter Valley....

but for me the special times came when I finally got to meet her :) 

online friends for years and years , 

and finally time to watch her create,listen to her speak,

 ,connect to her creative spirit, and spend time laughing,crying then laughing again,

oh and sharing my womanly energy(table sistas unite),

well lets just say ,my creative energy was at peace in her presence.

so for me , this year wasn't really about pumping out lots of arty stuff,
(although I did do a large heart canvas for this beautiful one above,a random piece in my art journal, a layout for Jason, a double for Kim, and Naomi's awesome class pieces)
it was about connecting to my fellow campers and getting a little wild...
(joining in on the punk themed flash mob #soundingdifficultiessuck)

Mojo each year features an option of a dress up night , and this years theme was 70's .

Painting Fairy Doors in Trees

    A few months ago I was peeking thru Instagram and come across an image of trees that,

had the knots painted as fairy doors.

 I cant seem to find the image now ...damn it, but i did spy these on google images.

Soooooooo gorgeous Ruby came to visit last week(internal yippeeee), 

who else but a creative spirit to go and paint Fairy Doors in trees with?

A quick walk down to the lake, with a few paints and a few Poscas

,scouring the trees to find the perfect Knots

(we found this paperbark perfect)

to leave a little magic for those that care to look .

I love Rubys' paperbark paint palette

 note to self : take more fine nip Poscas for detail work .. 

and maybe a little varnish for longevity.

Go on,go create a little magic in your backyard.

I have been playing with Inks and Stencils and Acrylics .

 Inspiration and an upcoming Auction are always enough to motivate onself to finish the task asap.

 I've been somewhat distracted from the joys of scrapbooking ,

so it was nice to be able to dedicate one day to get something across my desk .

Art Journaling ,canvases and work seems to be taking most of my time away from my once all important passion..its my own creative journey and im really loving what I am learning and creating.

Arts Inc Norah Head Lighthouse Retreat July 2015

  Retreating again, In my favorite hometown location,Lucky Me.

With one incredibly talented muse.

Paula is a local girl,an art teacher,who lives abroad with her family and 

returns twice yearly to host art retreats at this beautiful location,

 on the New South Wales ,Central Coast .

For this retreat, I put on my cooks apron instead of my art apron and assisted the artisans with creative culinary fare. Of course in between courses I was playing in my art journal (evidence) and snapping the odd instagram pic /video -

but seriously, you really should check this Link out for a taste of Paulas work .

 She is incredibly inspiring and these retreats are class inclusive,

you bound away feeling recharged creatively,

having learnt new techniques and 

with piece of your own work(a sea inspired handmade art journal)

already with direction and flow,to continue working on.

The next ArtsInc. retreats are in December 2015.

Instagram inspiration

I love Instagram for the artistic inspiration it provides and

 I adore all the incredible artists of the world who share their passion and love 

through the wonderful medium of Photography.

I am not a big one for standard challenges,

so its rad when you are floating through your feed and 

come across something that really inspires you

 to get to your art space and create something asap. 

This piece below is inspired by the amazing Irina Teeshoom and 

in particular, this gorgeous piece of layered arty goodness here .

I absolutely love the colourful bold fun naive creative approach that she uses.

She is pure inspiration for me,and creating a page scraplifting her "creative style" was so much fun.
